Nagle Dam

On Sunday we decided to jump on the motorbike and take a ride through the valley!
It was a freezing morning, but the sun was shining. We packed a picnic into the top box on the bike, as well as a lovely big blanket to lie on. We rummaged through our kitchen cupboards, and managed to rustle up a small spread consisting of tinned sardines, cheese, pro-vitas, spicy shredded mango and of course our coffee maker!
It was a gorgeous ride along the dirt roads with the most spectacular views.
P.S. If you look closely you will notice that I am now a red-head!

Also, Annie has gone red head!!!!

We stopped at Nagle Dam, where we made a cosy spot along the river bank. We ate, cuddled, drank hot coffee and just enjoyed eachothers company!

We even spotted a few cows and zebra near by!

Comrades Marathon

It was the 2012 Comrades Marathon yesterday.
The family decided to go support! So we set up a picnic spot along the side of the road and spread out a delicious breakfast. We took along our little braai, and the girls sipped champagne and orange juice, whilst the boys cooked up a storm!
Paul made some great coffee on his small stove, which helped to warm us up. It was a great morning, filled with family, friends, bacon and eggs :-)

Karkloof Falls

Last weekend we went up to Karkloof Falls in Howick.
It really was quite an adventure! We packed the bakkie full of blankets, pillows, books and headed up to the Falls. Its about an hours drive, some of it along gorgeous dirt roads.
Our friend Warwick came along with us. We set up a braai, and enjoyed a lazy day lounging on the rocks, eating good food, drinking great beer and spending time with a friend.

It was a deliciously warm autumn day, with the most stunning light and warmth radiating off the waterfall.

I had made a tray of scrumptious roast veggies before we left, so all we had to do was warm them up on the braai. We chatted all afternoon, enjoying the simplicity of nature and friendship.
